Question:
I have often heard people talking about “a good divorce” a “quick divorce” or an “amicable divorce”. What exactly is meant by all this ? Can people who don’t get on divorce “nicely” ?
Answer:
Yes, but unfortunately most couples are too pre-occupied with fighting to the death.
It is possible to divorce in a swift, fair and civilised matter ,which means ending the marriage itself and settling associated matters of children, property and finances at minimum cost (time-wise, money-wise and emotionally). This is done by negotiating in a civilised manner and reaching an agreement covering all the relevant points.
If this is the case, matters can be finalized in the minimum time at court. If the agreement is balanced and fair and the divorce smooth and swift then, relatively speaking, everyone should “win”.
