International Child Abduction & Relocation

Home / During a vacation in Israel with our children (8,11, and 14) I fell in love with another man and my husband (and the children's father) and I decided to divorce. Am I entitled to remain overseas with our minor children and not return with them to Sweden, on the return ticket date, because my marriage has broken down?

No! Marital breakdown is not a defense to child abduction and unless your husband agrees to the children remaining overseas you will be wrongfully retaining them outside Sweden, i.e. their country of habitual residence, and could face child abduction proceedings.
